Nitin Gadkari, Minister of MSME, has emphasized the development of trendy Khadi designs without compromising tradition to increase Khadi's sale and turn it into a global brand.
To improve the design of the Khadi products, Khadi and the KVIC (Complete Company of Villagers and Industries of the Village) proposed on Wednesday to set up design houses by the name of the National Design Center and Product Development Centres. At a meeting with MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari, KVIC suggested the development of a design house to the east, west, north, south and northeast of India. In the conference, MSME Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Panda, Textiles Secretary Ravi Capoor and KVIC President VK Saxena also participated, the minister addressed how to take this initiative ahead together with the fashion designers Ritu Beri, Rohit Bal, JJ Valaya, Raghavendra Rathor, National Design Institute (NID).
Nitin Gadkari stressed the creation of innovative designs without infringing on tradition according to the declaration produced by the MSME ministry, in order to increase the selling of Khadi to a global brand, even when Khadi needs to become appealing to the young of India. According to the Minister, the product designs must take into account customer choices, requirements, local and regional preferences and requirements such as weather, local design, etc.
